There is much that can be shared about Hediye. I have a million stories I could share about her but her story really begins at Misty Acres Farm with Ed and Char Luthy.
From the moment her paws hit my red Georgia dirt, she has proved to be not only an excellent livestock working dog, but also a treasured addition to protecting our home. Many times when an adult Kangal moves to a new home, it's understandable that there is a short adjustment period. While I'm sure it took a few days for Hediye, Maverick, Lokum, Ancient Warrior and New Dawn to adjust to their new home on my farm, from the moment their paws set down on the red Georgia clay they felt at home. They immediately went to business, getting to know their new livestock, checking the perimeters, looking around at all the changes, marveling at how the land rolls up here in the mountains.
With Hediye, there was a small void that happened when she left Misty Acres. I didn't realize it till I brought them all home, that there was a small void in me too. I'm not quite sure how it happened, or how she did it, but before I knew it, our 'voids' not only became filled, but overflowed with each other. No matter where I am on the land working, her eye is upon me and I must admit that it comforts my heart when I turn around and catch her 'spying' on me lol.

Hediye is the most amazing mother I've ever had the honor of raising. Her love and devotion to her puppies is endless. She's a dutiful mother, attending to their every need. I've fallen more in love with her (I never thought that could be possible) after watching her raise her puppies.
It was late one evening before I was able to get the evening feeding done with all the animals. We had one of several major snows this winter and as I began to leave the main pasture after feeding the cattle, I looked over and spied Heydi watching me through the trees.
There she sat, without a word, observing every move I made. There is a 'stillness' that surrounds you as the day begins to end, especially when it's blanketed in snow. It was quiet that night, so to catch her even from a distance, watching over me and the land caused my heart to remember that I'm never alone.
Can you spot her sitting there, through the trees?
A little about the breeders. The Odaci brothers have very beautiful dogs with excellent temperament. They are dedicated to the Kangal breed and their aim is to sell to good working homes. All their dogs work sheep, and the pups are line bred on excellent working parents. We are so happy and honored to have such nice pups. This is the Odaci's web site www.kangal55.de
A little about Hedyie's breeding. Hedyie and Safak are from a very special, old, legendary, almost extinct blood lines of Kangal dogs in Kangal dating back to 1893.
Filiz, the dam of the pups was bred by Turhan Kangal, and is pretty much the last dog in his very old lines. Filiz was a working dog with sheep in Turkey, owned by Ahmet Gokay until she was sold and moved to Germany at 5 years of age.
Filiz's sire is Turhan Kangal's famous Ballak and the Grandsire is the even more famous Tarzan. Duman the sire of the pups is a son of Ejder, who was best young dog at the festival 2001. Duman's mother is Odaci's Ceylan a daughter of Duman I, owned by Abdurrahman Sisman in Kangal. His father is the old Aslan who is also a festival winner.
Hedyie is from very precious old lines of Turhan Kangal. They are big strong dogs with perfect working ability and character. They were chosen very carefully.
