Arkadas in the snow
February, 2009
One of the most beautiful sounds we hear on the farm is when all of the dogs raise their heads to the heavens and begin their howl that comes from deep inside their hearts. It's a primitive sound, and one that is usually started by our beloved Hediye. All of the dogs will chime in, including the puppies and it's a song that will be etched on my heart forever.

Arkadas absolutely loved his goats. It's obvious that they loved him too.
March, 2007
When I would visit my breeder's farm years ago, one of my favorite dogs was Arkadas. He was a classic Kangal...you could see him taking the time to quickly assess who I was and once he made the decision that I was 'ok', he would quickly come up, ready for me to shower him with love and affection.
Arkadas exuded charm. He had a natural charisma about him and you would never leave my breeder's farm without remembering Arkadas. He was always one of my favorites and I wasn't alone in that opinion. His sire in Turkey has been described as 'the best Kangal ever born' and I can see why they say that because of what I saw in Arkadas.
Arkadas passed away in a heart wrenching accident. His loss is one that I've never been able to put behind me.
He was a Champion in the show ring, a champion with livestock and he certainly championed my heart all those years ago, stealing it forever. Y'all will never know how much it means to me to have his AI straws and to be a part of honoring all he was in the puppies that will carry on his legacy in the days and years ahead.
