Ancient Warrior was born out in the pastures of Turkey, surrounded by his shepherd and sheep. It was a much anticipated breeding by his shepherd...Ancient Warrior's father and grand father are quite famous in Turkey and well known for their effective protection over their flocks against wolves.
Warrior's shepherd was very reluctant to let him go...out of the entire litter, only he and a sister survived. Life over in Turkey can be quite harsh for the people and their animals but Warrior was destined to live and to one day come to America...

Color: Cream to light tan to gray in a sable pattern with a black mask.
Coat: Short double coat, neither wavy nor fluffy.

Height: 28 to 30 inches for females and 30 to 32 inches for males.
Weight: 90 to 110 pounds for females and 110 to 145 pounds for males.

...Ed Luthy was over in Turkey, searching for a male to bring back to the States. While there were numerous beautiful males to pick from, he had yet to find "the one" for him and his wife. When the Kangal breeder in Turkey drove him out to the countryside and led him on a walk that lasted a mile, they found Warrior's shepherd tending his flock. When Ed saw Warrior, he knew he was "the one" and thus the negotiations for this little pup began.
The shepherd drove a hard bargain (as he should have) and when an agreement was finally reached, the shepherd handed over little Warrior to Ed. It was not without cost however. For the privilege of taking Warrior, 3 puppies would have to be given to replace him.
We are very honored to have Ancient Warrior at Shadow Wings Farm. He fills my heart with laughter over his school boy pranks. He's mischevious with a twinkle in his eye to those he is bonded with, and a force to be reckoned with to predators. He truly is an Ancient Warrior...from a long line of Kangals who have proven themselves to be worthy.
